How do I upscale an image without losing quality?

How much bigger can I make an image?
This page offers 2K, 4K and 8K target resolutions, so roughly 2048, 4096 or 8192 pixels on the long edge. Because those are targets and not multipliers, the increase depends on your starting size: a 1000px photo gains a great deal at 4K, a 3000px photo rather less.
What is the difference between an image upscaler and a photo enhancer?
An upscaler changes the pixel dimensions and reconstructs detail to fill them. An enhancer leaves the size alone and adjusts what is already there — sharpness, contrast, colour, noise. This page upscales, and cleans up compression damage as a side effect of doing so.
Will it fix a blurry or pixelated photo?
Pixelated, usually yes — blockiness is a resolution problem and that is exactly what upscaling addresses. Motion blur and a missed focus are different: the detail was never recorded, so the model can only produce a plausible sharp version rather than the one you meant to take.

Does it work on AI art, anime and illustrations?
Yes, and flat art is where upscaling is most visibly successful: line work and areas of flat colour have unambiguous structure to reconstruct, so jagged edges come back clean rather than merely bigger.
What happens to the image I upload?
