How it works
Name the motifs, two or three colors and a background color, or tap a style. With a photo or sketch attached, words are optional.
Select Generate image. Every run makes a new design, so generate a few to compare. If no image comes back, try again; changing a word or two can help.
At full size, look for straight lines dividing the square into blocks; if you see any, generate again. Otherwise, download it.
The look
The print is meant to fill the square to every edge, with no border, frame or focal point. You get the design alone, not a picture of it on a cushion or phone case.
Motifs are drawn in a few colors, usually flat like screen-printed fabric or wrapping paper, though a sketch can keep some of its own texture. The background is one solid color with no texture or shading.
Each style aims for its own look. Bold florals: medium roses, tulips, daisies and peonies. Tropical leaves: monstera, palm and banana leaves. Geometric: shapes on an even grid. Damask: ornaments in two tones of one color.
Prompt ideas
When copies of the square are placed together, the Geometric and Damask styles tend to join best, and stripes, Greek key and larger motifs worst.
Try "a cheerful pattern" or "soft pastel colors." Words that name no motif get small lemons with glossy leaves and a few white blossoms, on light cream unless you name colors.
Try "teapots, teacups and slices of cake on pale blue." Each motif you name is meant to appear many times.
Motifs come out small unless you say otherwise. Adding "medium" or "large-scale" can make them bigger, though not to an exact size, and fewer then fit in the square.
