Frequently asked questions
PS2 Filter FAQ
- What does the PS2 filter create?
- It creates a new early-2000s console-style render from text, an uploaded photo, or both, using low-polygon geometry, low-resolution textures, hard baked lighting, limited color depth, and plain skybox staging. It reproduces an era of console graphics rather than any particular game, so it will not recreate a named title's characters or logos. YouArt is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Sony Interactive Entertainment; the PS2 name is used here only to describe the visual style.
- How do I write a good PS2-style prompt?
- Name one subject, the pose or camera angle, outfit and surface colors, lighting direction, and how much of the background set should appear. Words such as low-poly, low-res texture, hard vertex lighting, and plain skybox keep the result inside the era instead of drifting toward a modern render.
- Can I apply the look to my own photo?
- Yes. Upload a clear photo and state which features, outfit details, or pose should stay recognizable. The result is a new image that interprets your photo rather than a degraded copy of it, so review the face and hands at full size.
- Is the result a real 3D model or a game asset?
- No. Each run returns one flat 1K image that looks like a console render, so there is no mesh, texture map, or polygon count to edit, and nothing is quantized or downscaled from your original file. Faces and small props are simplified as part of the look, so treat likeness as approximate.
- How much does one PS2-style image cost?
- Each run creates one 1K image and costs 8 YouArt credits. Editing the prompt is free until you generate; every additional variation is a new run.
